Gerald R. Velarde
Gerald R. Velarde graduated from the University of
New Mexico Law School in 1980. During the period from 1980 through 1981, he practiced bankruptcy law in Dallas, Texas. Since
moving back to New Mexico in 1991, he has practiced bankruptcy law mainly as a sole or small-firm practitioner. Mr. Velarde’s
practice involved mainly consumer and small business bankruptcy or workouts. He serves as chairperson of the Chapter 13 Committee
appointed by the Bankruptcy Court. He serves on the Local Rules Advisory Committee and also serves as a board member
of the Bankruptcy Section of the State Bar and is a past Chairperson of the Section.
